I believe that the possible benefits that can come from use of technology in the classroom is what influences teachers and students to use technology in the classroom. Technology comes in many different forms. An electronic drop box for assignments creates ease for the teacher receiving the assignments and the student turning it in. The use of a smartboard during lessons can increase understanding of the subject for the student by aiding the teacher in getting the lesson across in an interactive manner.
ISTE standards are necessary for a productive learning environment as it holds both students and all those involved in the education process accountable. My personal favorite standard for teachers is to also be a learner. I believe teachers can learn a lot from their students if they are open to it. My personal favorite standard for students is to be an empowered learner because knowledge is indeed power, and much can be accomplished with it.
I do believe the term "digital native" can fit today's youth. We see today's youth successfully playing on phones or watching videos on an iPad at young ages and it only goes up from there to proficient computer skills to coding in schools. It is clear that technology proficiency is now apart of growing up and intergrated into a common skill most will have, contrary to the older generation of "digital immigrants". The students are now the teachers at times, able to aid in answering simple technological questions and fixing simple technological problems.

Yes, "teacher is also a student" is also one of my favorite ones. Learning is a life-long process. Being a teacher does not mean that we stop taking in new knowledge and start to disseminate knowledge. I constantly learn from you guys and it helps me to be a better teacher.
ReplyDeleteI hope to do the same when I am a teacher!
